Sweden school shooting 2025: Very painful day for all of Sweden, 10 people have been killed
On Tuesday, a shooting at an educational facility in central Sweden resulted in the deaths of around 10 individuals, including the suspected gunman, police confirmed.
A 35-year-old man from Orebro, who possessed a firearm permit and had no previous criminal history, carried out the attack with an automatic weapon. He was fatally shot after exchanging gunfire with the police. Local authorities believe he acted alone in the incident.
Teacher Lena Warenmark shared with SVT News that she likely heard around 10 gunshots. She also mentioned that there were noticeably fewer students on campus Tuesday afternoon, following the exam.
Forest stated that the suspected attacker is not known to the authorities and has no ties to any criminal gangs, in contrast to the recent rise in deadly shootings and bombings tied to gang-related violence in Sweden.
King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden expressed his condolences, stating, “Tonight, we extend our sympathies to the families and friends of those who have passed. Our thoughts are also with the injured and their loved ones, as well as everyone else impacted by this tragedy”
